Kindness is one of the most critical qualities that can provide immense comfort, support, and happiness to other people and ourselves. However, in our present world, it has become increasingly difficult to notice this quality. That does not mean it has ceased to exist; acts of kindness are still there around us. However, the pandemic's social aversion and adverse impacts on people, and a slowly manifesting negative and individualistic attitude, has made it difficult for people to be kind to others, let alone themselves. What is kindness?

Before we explore how you can practice this quality, you need to understand what kindness is and why it is crucial to our lives. Appreciate yourself

Acts of kindness begin at home; more specifically, they start with yourself. Being overly critical of yourself can be damaging to your self-esteem and self-confidence. It can also make you feel depressed and anxious. Therefore, you should be kind to yourself. Appreciate your good qualities and forgive your mistakes. 

Be well-mannered

To be kind, you do not have to necessarily go out of your way to do something for others; you can simply use your manners. Treat all the people you meet with respect. Be it a janitor or a company CEO. Do not make demands; instead, be courteous and use "please." Also, make sure to express your gratitude even for small tasks. When you are polite and respectful to people, they will feel more acknowledged and appreciated.

Smile at strangers

Smiles are one of the best pick-me-ups in the world. It can make anyone feel comforted, happy and cheerful. They are also contagious. When you smile at someone, they will likely smile back and then pass it on to others. Therefore, make sure to smile at strangers. It is not difficult to give, and you never know how much a person could need that simple act of kindness.

Help a person who is facing difficulty

You may sometimes see a person having difficulty but not requesting help. They could be a stranger, friend, or family; in that case, make sure to offer your assistance. Most people do not like to ask for help for fear of inconveniencing others overtly. However, they will appreciate and be touched by aid. Therefore, when you see a person having difficulty, make sure to offer help. You may brighten their day significantly.

Being kind can be one of the most crucial things you do in your daily life. Not only will it help others feel good, but it will make you more optimistic and content too.
